Hastings house fire caused by lightning


The roof of a house in Sussex was set ablaze after the home was struck by lightning.

More than 20 firefighters spent at least three hours tackling the fire at the property on Edward Terrace, in Hastings, in the early hours.

Lightning set light to the roof and loft of the terraced property at about 0030 BST.

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service crews used an aerial platform to help extinguish the blaze by 0400 BST.

A spokeswoman for the fire service said no-one was injured during the fire.
