Shipyard bids farewell to Newcastle's landmark cranes

Part of Newcastle's industrial heritage has been demolished as the famous Swan Hunter shipyard cranes were blasted with dynamite.

The shipyard, which closed for business in 1996, has been synonymous with north-east England since Victorian times and the cranes have been almost as familiar a landmark as the Tyne Bridge.
