Stuck climber winched to safety on Dorset coast

A man climbing cliffs with his son on the Dorset coast had to be rescued after he became stuck.

The 50-year-old was at Anvil Point, near Swanage, on Thursday when he became stranded.

His son continued climbing until he reached the top of the cliff where he asked a passer-by on the coast path to call the coastguard.

Cliff rescue teams from Swanage and St Albans were called at about 2015 BST and winched the man to safety.

Coastguards said the man appeared to be very tired but not injured.
