Man and woman injured in robbery in Mapperley Plains

A couple were injured during a robbery at their family home in Nottingham on Bank Holiday Monday.

At about 2300 BST five men entered the house in Mapperley Plains, threatened the man and woman, then left with car keys, cash and a blue Ford.

Four children in the house were left distressed but unharmed and are getting help from specially-trained officers.

Police have described the incident as "nasty" and have appealed for witnesses.

'Unnecessary violence'

The registration number of the Ford the robbers got away in is SD05 KHK.

The man was treated for head and knee injuries and the woman received treatment for injuries to her face and throat.

Both were discharged from hospital on Tuesday.

Acting Det Insp Brian Foster, of Carlton CID, said: "This was a particularly nasty crime, with offenders using wholly unnecessary violence against two parents in the presence of their children.

"We are doing all we can to track them down and bring them to justice.

"Bearing in mind the violent and shocking nature of this crime, we are appealing to anyone who knows the men involved, who saw anything suspicious or has any information that can help our investigation, to contact Nottinghamshire Police as a matter of urgency."
