An Essex hospital trust has set up a heart clinic for patients in the Harwich area.
Anyone needing to see a heart specialist formerly had to travel either to Colchester or Clacton.
Now a new fortnightly service will be held at the Fryatt Hospital in Dovercourt.
The clinic will deal with patients who have been referred by their GP for the first time and also follow-up appointments.
Dr Mark Scoote, who works at the clinic run by Colchester Hospital University NHS Foundation, said: "I see patients with a variety of heart conditions...and the feedback from patients has been very positive.
"Because many of the patients I see are elderly and have limiting symptoms such as breathlessness, it's not convenient for them to travel all the way to Colchester or Clacton."
Patients will be able to receive an electrocardiogram (ECG) but any more detailed tests will take place at Colchester General Hospital.
