Surrey pensioner fends off robbers with walking stick

A 70-year-old woman used her walking stick to fend off two robbers who attacked her in her Surrey home.

The woman was in the kitchen of the house in Pickhurst Road, Chiddingfold, at 0230 BST on Sunday when the men walked in and demanded money.

Surrey Police said one of the pair punched the woman in the back but she used her walking stick to push them away and they ran out of the back door.

Pc James Brown appealed for witnesses to come forward with information.

He said: "This was an appalling attack on a defenceless lady in her own home."

The men were aged between 16 and 25 and were wearing grey tops with the hoods pulled up.

One of the men had brown facial stubble and was described as well spoken.
