Homeless shelter project in Lincoln delayed

The building of a new centre for homeless people in Lincoln has been delayed for a number of months.

The 24-bed facility on Beaumont Fee was originally planned to open in December as a replacement for a shelter on Monks Road.

But a change of location and the appointment of a project manager have pushed the completion date back to spring 2011.

The centre will be managed by homeless charity Framework.

It will work alongside local provider the Nomad Trust which ran the Monks Road shelter.

The centre will also provide health services, advice and computers for training and education.

An earlier scheme to build on Cannon Street was halted when residents moved to designate the site a village green.
