Child stole money from purse in Wellingborough burglary

A girl aged between three and five is thought to have stolen money from a woman's purse during a distraction burglary.

The child was with a man trying to sell tobacco in Queensway, Wellingborough, on Monday.

A woman let them in to her house when he asked to use the toilet. Northamptonshire Police believe the girl then searched the house.

She had dark hair in a ponytail and wore a pink top, police said.

They called at the house between 1540 and 1725 BST.

The man is believed to be about 25 to 30, 6ft 4in (1.93m) and slim.

He had short dark brown hair and wore a grey top with white lettering across the front.
