Charlie Sheen 'faces short jail sentence'
US actor Charlie Sheen has made a deal with Colorado authorities over domestic violence allegations involving his wife, a prosecutor has said.
Chief Deputy District Attorney Arnold Mordkin said an agreement had been reached but did not confirm details.
According to reports, Sheen will enter a plea of no contest at a court appearance next week to a charge of assaulting his wife Brooke in Aspen last year.
The 44-year-old will seek a 30-day sentence for the misdemeanour charge.
Sheen had previously pleaded not guilty to menacing, misdemeanour assault and criminal mischief following an alleged argument with his wife on Christmas Day last year.
Brooke Mueller Sheen told police at the time he had put a knife to her throat and threatened to kill her.
Since the incident, both Sheens have reportedly completed alcohol rehabilitation programmes.
It is believed that, with credit for good behaviour, a possible 30-day jail sentence could be reduced to 17 days.
Sheen married Brooke Mueller, his third wife, in 2008 following his acrimonious divorce from actress Denise Richards.
The actor - named America's highest paid TV star two years ago - recently signed a deal to star in US sitcom Two and a Half Men for another two seasons.
