Fishermen objecting to a huge mussel farm off the Devon coast have won the support of East Devon District Council.
The authority has objected to proposals by Scottish company Offshore Shellfish Ltd for three sites covering a total of 1,500 hectares.
Council officers backed local fishermen who are opposing the plans, saying it would restrict their fishing grounds.
The final say on the farm, which would grow 10,000 tonnes of mussels a year, lies with the Crown Estate.
The company was unavailable for comment when approached by the BBC.
