Kent Pc charged with wasting police time

A Kent police officer has been suspended from duty and charged with wasting police time after claims she was attacked.

Pc Frances Croucher, 27, has been bailed to appear before magistrates in Sevenoaks on 28 June, Kent Police said.

It follows claims that she was beaten unconscious during a routine vehicle check.

Kent Police declined to comment further while legal proceedings were under way.

It was claimed that Pc Croucher asked a van to stop during a check in Crockenhill Road, Swanley, at 2030 GMT on 14 January, and was attacked by the vehicle's occupants.

At the time of the incident, police said she was knocked unconscious but her injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.
