A woman accused of stabbing Labour MP Stephen Timms at a constituency surgery is to face trial at the Old Bailey in November.

Roshonara Choudhary, 21, of Central Park Road, East Ham, east London, appeared via videolink at the court.

She has been charged with attempting to murder the former treasury minister, who is MP for East Ham, in May.

Ms Choudhary has also been charged with two counts of weapon possession. A two-week trial was fixed for 1 November.

She spoke only to confirm her name and that she understood the proceedings.

Ms Choudhary was remanded in custody to appear at the same court for a plea and case management hearing on 13 July.
