A man has died after being rescued from a fire at his home in South Lanarkshire.

Fire crews were called to the end terrace house in Braeside Way, Larkhall, just before 0800 BST.

After learning that a man may be in the house, firefighters in breathing apparatus forced their way in.

Paramedics attended to the man, who was believed to be in his 40s, at the scene before he was taken to Wishaw General Hospital where he later died.
