A civic reception for the victorious Leicester Tigers squad has been put on hold as team members take part in summer tours.

The defending champions won their third title in four years after they subdued Saracens in a thrilling Premiership final at Twickenham on Saturday.

The Lord Mayor of Leicester, Colin Hall, said it may be next season before a reception could be organised.

He said the city wanted to pay tribute to the club's success.

Mr Hall said: "Talks between the city council and the club to arrange a suitable date will continue during the next few weeks.

"We hope an agreement can be reached which will enable the council and the city to thank the club for the success and honours it has brought to us.

"We wish to give the Tigers the recognition they richly deserve."
