Woman, 54, charged after fatal Lichfield collision

A woman has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving after a pensioner died in a collision.

The 54-year-old was arrested after a Ford Fiesta hit an 83-year-old man in Beacon Street in Lichfield, Staffordshire, at lunchtime on Friday.

The pensioner, from the Walsall area, is thought to have been walking with his wife, also in her 80s.

The woman, who was charged with failing to provide a breath specimen, is due before Tamworth Magistrates' Court on Monday.

She will remain in custody until then, Staffordshire Police said.

The pensioner has yet to be formally identified. His wife was treated for minor injuries.
