Stowe School porter accused of poisoning soup

A 57-year-old kitchen porter has been accused of poisoning soup at a Buckinghamshire public school.

Maxwell Cook, 57, from Brackley, Northamptonshire, has been charged with attempting to administer poison with intent to injure, aggrieve or annoy.

It is alleged destainer was added to soup at Stowe School on 11 March.

Mr Cook has been bailed until 11 June when he is due to appear at Aylesbury Magistrates' Court.

Police have said the soup was not served to any pupils or staff and no one was injured.

Mr Cook has been employed at the school since January 2007 but is currently suspended.

The school has 750 pupils aged between 13 and 18 and past pupils include business tycoon Sir Richard Branson.
