Irish Permanent International to close in Isle of Man

An Irish bank has announced it is to close its branch in the Isle of Man after trading on the island for 17 years.

Irish Permanent International, based in Ridgeway Street, Douglas, is due to close its doors by the end of the year.

Treasury Minister Anne Craine MHK said she was "saddened" by the news.

"It is always saddening to hear of local job losses and we share the disappointment of the members of staff involved," she said.

"The bank has promised to work closely with employees, customers and other stakeholders over the coming months, and the Treasury will fully support the efforts of the Department of Economic Development to find suitable new employment for all those facing redundancy."
