Woman seriously injured in Halesowen fire

A woman has been seriously injured in a house fire in the West Midlands.

The woman - believed to be in her 50s - and her husband were helped from the building in Cherry Street, Halesowen, by a member of the public.

The victim had suffered "significant burns" to her hand, arm, body and legs and was flown to Selly Oak Hospital.

Her husband, who was suffering from the effects of breating in smoke, was taken by ambulance to Russells Hall Hospital. The fire started at lunchtime.
