Mali's sand divers dredge by hand in the River Niger


In the treacherous currents of the River Niger, sand diggers dive to the river bed to fill their buckets with high quality sand to supply Mali's current housing boom.

They earn the equivalent of about $5 (£3.50) a day in what is one of the world's poorest countries.
