An armed forces rehabilitation centre in Surrey has received the freedom of the district.

Mole Valley District Council granted Headley Court the honour at a ceremony at the Town Hall.

The honour was accepted on behalf of staff by Col Jerry Tuck, Headley Court's Commanding Officer

Councillor John Northcott said the staff did an "outstanding job" caring for those injured in the conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq.

He said: "I cannot think of a more fitting group to achieve this recognition.

"This is the highest honour that the council can bestow and I feel privileged to have been part of this historic event."
