A woman in her 70s has been knocked to the floor by three men who broke into her house in Bessbrook on Friday.

The men, one armed with a handgun, forced the front door of the house in John F Kennedy Park at about 2320 BST.

After assaulting the woman they searched the house while the victim remained in the living room.

No demands were made and the men left a short time later, apparently without stealing anything. The woman did not need medical treatment.

It is believed they escaped in a dark Ford Mondeo car.
