Karen Marie Aagaard Ørsted Andersen (born 13 August 1988), known professionally as MØ ( (listen)), is a Danish singer, songwriter, and record producer. Born in Ubberud, MØ began her music career when she sang in the punk duo MOR with her friend in 2007. They released a series of singles and EPs until the duo was disbanded in 2012. MØ became a solo artist and signed a recording contract with Sony Music Entertainment In 2012, subsequently releasing her debut extended play, Bikini Daze (2013), and her debut studio album, No Mythologies to Follow (2014).
MØ collaborated with Australian rapper Iggy Azalea on the 2014 single "Beg for It” which peaked at number 27 on the US Billboard Hot 100, earning MØ her first entry on the chart. MØ rose to fame in 2015 when she co-wrote and provided vocals on the Major Lazer and DJ Snake collaboration "Lean On" which became an international hit and peaked highly on global charts. The music video for “Lean On” also became a viral success, gaining over two billion views on YouTube. MØ was featured on Snakehips single "Don't Leave”, and another Major Lazer single "Cold Water" alongside Canadian singer Justin Bieber which debuted at number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100.
