BBC Worldwide, the commercial arm of the BBC, is to launch the first ever Strictly Come Dancing Official Podcast to accompany the current 15th series of the award-winning BBC One Entertainment show.

Hosted by last year’s winner, TV and Radio presenter Ore Oduba, the weekly podcast will be available free of charge, providing Strictly fans with all the news, views , glitz and glamour behind the glitter ball. The podcast aims to provide fans with a unique backstage pass to the show including interviews with contestants, professional dancers, judges, experts, fans and those working behind the scenes.

The Strictly Come Dancing Official Podcast will be released early on every Monday morning, giving listeners plenty of reaction to the weekend’s shows. It will be funded by advertising and will be distributed by technology platform Acast.  It will be available on Apple Podcasts, the Acast app and website, and most other podcast apps, allowing fans to enjoy the Strictly experience on the move. There will be 13 episodes starting on Monday 25 September and running until Monday 18 December. Once the episodes have been released they will still be accessible throughout the run of the series.

Host Ore Oduba said: “It's no secret how much I love Strictly Come Dancing. Winning the series in 2016, I felt like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with my Golden Ticket! And to host the podcast means not only that I get to stay part of the Strictly Family, but we can bring the fans with us every sequinned step of the way. And if last year is anything to go by, we're all in for an exciting ride in 2017!”'

Helen O’Donnell, Executive Producer, BBC Worldwide said: “We’re always looking for ways of extending fans enjoyment of our shows and the official Strictly podcast will be a great companion to this year’s series, giving listeners a glittering backstage pass to their favourite show. We’re aware of how popular podcasts are and are delighted to be entering this growing market.”

Adam Martin, Chief Content Officer for Acast said “BBC Worldwide has an incredible reputation for making great content. Expanding that into the world of podcasting is something we are honored to be doing. Acast’s technology and global reach are a perfect match for the Strictly podcast.”

The podcast will be produced in-house by BBC Worldwide by Producer Amy Elizabeth and Assistant Producer Jessica Munday. The Executive Producers for BBC Worldwide are Helen O’Donnell and Paul Hembury. The podcast will be funded independent of the BBC licence fee with any profits being returned to fund BBC programmes.
