Blue Peter - Project Petra

Confirmed for CBBC on 2 April at 5pm to 5.25pm

Thursday 2 April

Blue Peter, CBBC’s longest running show, returns this week with an action-packed episode following the Project Petra candidates as they are put through their paces at Spy School.

Project Petra launched live on Blue Peter in January, kicking off the search to find three CBBC Intelligence Officers who would gain unprecedented access to MI5, the Security Service. More than 5,000 viewers applied and they were whittled down to eight during a vigorous short-listing process.

The remaining eight candidates, who come from various locations across the UK, were then sent to Spy School where they faced various challenges to test their observational and analytical skills over one weekend in Manchester.

This episode shows the children tackle a Codebreaker challenge where they had to crack a series of secret codes in order to find the location of Spy School! The second challenge the aspiring CBBC Intelligence officers face is Information Recovery, which involves the candidates splitting into two teams in order to find a secret object, hidden somewhere in the heart of Manchester.

The candidates will be encouraged along the way by the three Blue Peter presenters – Lindsey Russell, Radzi Chinyanganya and Barney Harwood - and the three judges, Anthony Horowitz, Professor Christopher Andrew, the Official Historian of the Security Service MI5, and presenter Sonali Shah will be watching the candidates during the challenges. At the end of the episode, they will reveal which six will go through to the next stage of Spy School.
