Performer In The Portrait

Thursday 19 June

To celebrate Tony Blackburn's 50th anniversary as a broadcaster, this programme will follow Tony being recorded in conversation, over a number of sittings, as his portrait is painted by John Puckey – an up-and-coming young painter who has painted subjects ranging from Seth Lakeman to Lord Owen, the former Foreign Secretary.

John has often remarked how often the act of portrait-painting stimulates revealing and absorbing conversations, especially when the sitters are creative artists. The resulting programme will feature their conversation mixed with music and will be a rare opportunity to overhear an intimate conversation between artist and subject.
