Sounds Of The 60s

This week there's a Loose Connection tying together A Song For Jeffrey by Jethro Tull, Meet Me On The Ledge by Fairport Convention and Nirvana's Rainbow Chaser.

Among one of the many listener requests this week is Broken Hearted Pirates by Simon Dupree and The Big Sound. The 1969 track was written by Miki Antony and arranged by Chris Gunning - whose close friend Dudley Moore actually played piano on the final release. Sadly, the band's own hatred for the song took precedence over the label's enthusiasm for it, and it disappeared without a trace shortly before many of the band members also took their leave.

As always, Brian will have plenty of facts and music to share from the likes of Richie Havens, Lynda Scott, Mitch Ryder and The Detroit Wheels, The Sugar Shoppe, Kathy Kirby, John Lee Hooker and many more!
