Why are you taking part in Strictly this year?

Oh my gosh, I’ve always said "if I’m asked, I’ll do it" because why wouldn’t you? Strictly is just one of the most beautiful shows, there is nothing like it on British TV. It’s fun, it’s a lot of hard work but it’s beautiful, it’s glitzy, it’s glamour, it’s just so sexy and it’s just gorgeous. I’m looking forward to learning the dances but really I’d love to get fit and I’d love to lose loads of weight.

Have you got any previous dance experience?

No previous experience, although I did win a disco dancing competition when I was 13. I can dance, I’ve got rhythm and I think I can take choreography quite well but I think it’s just going to be the memory and it’s all new. Putting your head this way and doing that step, it’s going to be tricky.

What will be your biggest challenge during Strictly?

I think at the moment it is fitness. I used to be really fit when I used to do karate, I was mega fit but I just got lazy. Once I get my fitness back, I’m not going to lose it. This is going to totally change my life physically and from a health aspect, totally change my life, I just know it will.

How far do you hope to make it in the competition?

I would obviously like to win but failing that I would love to make the final. I’m more competing with the person I was last year rather than anybody else because you don’t know what the public are voting for and there’s no formula to winning. I just want to enjoy each week as it comes and just be better than the week before. You can’t go into week five and be at the same level as you were at week one. It’s really exciting!
