This year sees the launch of a brand new, youth-focused programme under the Springwatch umbrella - the Springwatch Wild Academy.

Starting on June 4 and running Monday to Thursday over the final two weeks, the Wild Academy is specifically aimed at children between the ages of 7 and 12, with schools and parents encouraged to join in the fun, live at 1.30pm every day.

Hosted by CBeebies and YouTube presenter Maddie Moate, the shows will be a mix of Springwatch footage edited especially for this age group, challenges and quizzes for the kids to get involved in, and special appearances from our host presenters and guests like Steve Backshall.

There will be interactive elements each day, worksheets for schools to download and plenty of ways for everyone to get involved.

The show will be live on the Springwatch website and on BBC Red Button, and then available to watch again shortly after on Red Button, iPlayer and on the Springwatch website.

Meanwhile, starting at 9am on Monday 28 May - the Springwatch web cams will once again be live streaming throughout the whole three weeks. No matter if you are an early riser or a night owl, our team will be there to keep you company with a constantly updated ticker, and audio commentary at the key moments

The streams can be found online at bbc.co.uk/springwatch or on the BBC Red Button.

Not only that, but the digital team will be manning our social media platforms throughout the whole period too - constantly updating on the breaking news, uploading the best and funniest moments, and answering you questions on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

We love hearing from you too - so use #Springwatch to get in touch - send in your wildlife spotting and musings, and challenge us with your trickiest questions!
