Why did you apply to go on Love in the Countryside?

I am single. I would like to have a partner and so to be honest; the bottom line is I thought it sounded fun and a great way to meet new people. It’s something different.

How long have you been on your own for?

I have been single for seven years. I’ve had two long relationships before then and I have had a few dates in those seven years.

Do you have children from previous relationships? And if so, what do they think about you being on the show?

I have four children - two daughters and two sons aged between 20 and 31. One of my daughters is wildly enthusiastic, my two sons are quite coy but think it is fun and my other daughter thinks I have gone completely round the twist!

Have you had any dating disasters?

I don’t think I have ever been on a blind date but I did have an almost dating disaster. After weeks of fancying a local person who I had become quite good friends with, I plucked up the courage to ask him out only for him to then run a mile. It’s tough because you don’t meet anyone outside your circle of friends or family.

Will it be nice to meet someone who doesn't have the same lifestyle as you?

Yes I think it will be quite fun. I had never thought of going outside my boundaries and I had always imagined pairing myself up with someone from the same walk of life.

What kind of person are you looking to meet?

I am probably a bit too fussy. I don’t have a type but I do have certain standards. Maybe I am overly fussy!

Are you going to see how you get on then?

Yes. I do realise that I need to get real!

Are you a romantic?

I am definitely a grower. I used to believe in love at first sight when I was 18 but when you get to my age, it is hard to fall in love with someone at first sight. I am more of a person who enjoys a relationship that grows.

Are you a traditionalist when it comes to dating?

I don’t mind going half and half. I don’t expect to be paid for. I like dressing up these days because I don’t get to do it very much and I like to get dressed up to go out. Equally, I like a long dog walk on the Moors as well.

How are you feeling about being on the show?

Excited. I don’t think I am nervous. It worries me really as everyone else seems to be nervous! I am just excited. It would be brilliant if I met someone I get on with.

Do you miss the companionship?

Absolutely. I am quite independent but I do definitely miss having the banter and someone to share things with.

What do your friends think?

My friends are all behind me. I am going to watch myself and cringe!

Anything else you would like to get out of this experience?

It’s a new chapter and it is exciting. I never thought I would do something like this in the past. It never crossed my mind. I suppose it is quite daring!
