Emun Elliot (Filth, The Paradise), Bill Paterson (Fleabag, Inside No.9), Ellie Haddington (Endeavour, Motherland), Ruth Bradley (The Split, The Fall), Sian Brooke (Doctor Foster, Sherlock) and Michael Nardone (Rellik, The Night Manager) have joined the cast of four-part drama Guilt which starts filming in Scotland next week and will premiere on BBC Scotland’s recently launched digital channel later this year, followed by BBC Two.

Appearing alongside the already announced lead actors Mark Bonnar (Catastrophe, Line Of Duty, Unforgotten) and Jamie Sives (Chernobyl, Frontier, Game of Thrones), the newly announced star in Guilt, a stylish contemporary drama set in Edinburgh with riveting plot twists and a strong vein of black humour, written by Neil Forsyth (Eric, Ernie And Me, Bob Servant) and made by Expectation and Happy Tramp North for BBC Scotland and BBC Two.

The story follows two disparate brothers Max (Bonnar) and Jake (Sives) who, while driving home from a wedding together one night, accidentally run over and kill an old man on a darkened street. After making the panicked decision to cover their tracks, the brothers seem to get away with their crime.

However, as neighbours and relatives of the dead man begin to suspect his death wasn’t as innocent as it initially seemed, the brothers find their lives rapidly falling apart, as their actions begin to catch up with them. Their increasingly desperate attempts to conceal their guilt lead them further into a world where everyone seems to have a hidden agenda and they discover they can trust no-one, ultimately including each other.

Happy Tramp North, Executive Producer, Neil Webster, says: “We’re very excited to announce such a stellar cast for Guilt. With Mark and Jamie onboard as the brothers, we were confident we could build an incredible cast around them, but we have been blown away by the actors who have joined the project. It’s a testament to Neil Forsyth’s writing that Guilt has attracted a cast of this calibre.”

Guilt will be co-produced by Expectation and Happy Tramp North and is part-funded by Screen Scotland’s Broadcast Content Fund. Written by Neil Forsyth, directed by Robert McKillop (Cleaning Up, Clique) and produced by Jules Hussey (Catherine The Great, My Mad Fat Diary), the Executive Producers are Neil Webster for Happy Tramp North and Kirstie Macdonald for Expectation.

The drama is commissioned by Shane Allen, Controller Comedy Commissioning; Steve Carson, Head of Multi-Platform Commissioning BBC Scotland; and Patrick Holland, Controller BBC Two. The Commissioning Executives for the BBC are Gregor Sharp and Gavin Smith. The series will premiere on BBC Scotland’s digital channel and follow on BBC Two later this year. Guilt will be internationally distributed by BBC Studios.
