New podcast series Fashion Fix, fronted by model and activist Charli Howard comes to BBC Sounds this month.

The podcast shows us how to get our fashion fix, while aspiring to fix the world and each other. The series tackles some of the biggest issues facing people, the planet and the fashion industry today, such as body image and body positivity, eco-fashion and sustainability, the #MeToo movement, diversity and self-care. At a time when people are increasingly environmentally and socially conscious, but bombarded by images of fast fashion and latest trends, Fashion Fix with Charli Howard will aim to unpick the complexities of the fashion industry.

In each episode, Charli chats to game-changing influencers and activists including Mariah Idrissi, one of the first models to wear a hijab in a mainstream fashion campaign; Russian model Kristina Romanova who co-founded the digital support network Humans of Fashion for models who have faced harassment in the industry; and Kalpona Akter, a former child garment worker turned union organiser, who witnessed the aftermath of the 2013 Rana Plaza factory disaster in Bangladesh.

Charli went viral in 2015 after she posted an open letter on Facebook to her then modelling agency, after they dropped her for being too big as a UK size 8. Since then, Charli has campaigned for a more representative modelling industry.

Charli Howard says: “I’m so thrilled to have been approached by BBC Sounds to do this podcast. I’m learning so much about sustainability within the fashion industry from the models, designers and influencers trying to make a difference - and how we all have a small part to play in making the planet a better place. I hope people enjoy listening as much as I’m enjoying recording it.”

Fashion Fix will launch on BBC Sounds on Friday 20 September.
