CBeebies Storytime app launches The Snow Queen
The Snow Queen is a classic family favourite and the CBeebies Storytime app brings the magical story to life for another generation. I’m sure both grown-ups and little ones alike will love reading the story together over the festive periodKay Benbow, Controller, CBeebies
The Snow Queen, narrated by actress Wunmi Mosaku, tells the tale of Gerda, a young village girl who is on a quest to save her best friend Kai, who has been captured and frozen by the wicked Snow Queen.
The animated story follows Gerda as she flies to rescue Kai using her magical gold boots and faces a series of obstacles along the way to finding the Snow Queen’s Winter Palace.
Children read and play along with the story by helping Gerda through a series of tasks, including flying through the sky to look for the Winter Palace, freeing her from robbers who capture her as she treks through the woods, and helping bring Kai back from his frozen slumber.
A musical adaptation of the popular festive story will also be this year’s CBeebies Christmas Show. CBeebies' The Snow Queen is an all-singing, all-dancing production which features many of the most popular stars of CBeebies, including Cat Sandion, Andy Day and Justin Fletcher. Filmed at Curve theatre in Leicester, the show will air on CBeebies on Friday 15 December.
