Pitch Perfect's Deke Sharon joins new BBC One Saturday night series Pitch Battle
I’m so excited to come to the UK to see the breadth of musical talent, and to provide the launch pad for what could be the world’s next megastar harmony group. If you love music, you love to sing and you are in a group or want to form one, come along - we can’t wait to see you perform!Deke Sharon
BBC One confirmed Deke Sharon’s involvement as auditions opened across the country to find Britain’s best singing group. Tuesday’s Child, who is producing the six-hour shows, is looking for the best singing groups from across the UK, from all musical styles: pop, rock, folk and gospel to acapella choirs.
Over the course of five hour-long, heat episodes, the groups will compete head-to-head over a series of choral challenges including Pitch Perfect inspired Riff Offs, a soloist’s challenge and an acapella round. The groups will need to pull out-all-the-stops in this no-chords-barred, sing or be sung-off tournament to win the live final.
Jo Wallace, BBC Commissioning Editor, Entertainment says: “Deke Sharon is an extraordinary musical talent and his experience with musical arrangement is second to none. He has a proven track record of delivering iconic songs with a fresh and unique flavour.”
