Rhod Gilbert to host You're Fired and You're Hired
As someone who has been fired from 24 jobs in six series of my BBC work experience show, I feel I have what it takes to empathise with the candidates who’ve been so cruelly rejected, and provide a shoulder for them to cry on.Rhod Gilbert
Rhod will appear each week alongside a variety of business experts and celebrities to discuss the outgoing candidates’ performance. As with previous series You’re Fired will air immediately after The Apprentice on BBC Two.
Rhod Gilbert is one of the UK’s leading stand-up comedy talents. He has enjoyed many successful years as a star of television and radio and continues to uphold his esteemed reputation as a presenter, writer and first-class live performer.
Rhod joined BBC Two′s iconic pop quiz Never Mind The Buzzcocks in 2014 and has also worked on various other TV projects including Rhod Gilbert’s Work Experience, Live At The Apollo, Have I Got News For You?, 8 Out of 10 Cats and Would I Lie To You?
On joining the series Rhod commented: “As a massive fan of The Apprentice, I can’t wait to start hosting You’re Fired. As someone who has been fired from 24 jobs in six series of my BBC work experience show [Rhod Gilberts Work Experience], I feel I have what it takes to empathise with the candidates who’ve been so cruelly rejected, and provide a shoulder for them to cry on.”
Patrick Holland, Channel Editor, BBC Two says: "I am delighted that Rhod is taking the hot seat on You're Fired. Rhod is a brilliantly individual comedian and I think the audience will love his gentle grilling of each week's fired candidate."
Kate Phillips, Controller Entertainment Commissioning, BBC says: “It’s great news that Rhod will be joining as the host of You’re Fired on BBC Two. A natural and accomplished presenter as well as a brilliant comic, he’s perfect for the role and I’m very excited to hear his unique take on the highlights of The Apprentice each week!”
You’re Fired and You’re Hired are commissioned for BBC Two by Sarah Clay and are made by Boundless. The 11 x 30’ (You’re Fired) and 1 x 60’ (You’re Hired) shows are Series Produced by Amanda Sangorski and Executive Produced by Cal Turner.
