An array of acclaimed acting talent including Ciaran Hinds, Archie Panjabi and Anna Chancellor have joined the cast of BBC One drama Shetland alongside series regulars Douglas Henshall, Alison O’Donnell, Steven Robertson, Julie Graham and Mark Bonnar for the new six-part series made by ITV Studios through BBC Scotland.
I'm looking forward to locking swords with Douglas Henshall and working against the stunning backdrop of Shetland. I came to Scotland a lot in the 70s and 80s in various theatre productions and of course to film Hallam Foe but this is the furthest I've ever been.
Starring Douglas Henshall in the lead role of DI Jimmy Perez, BBC One’s Shetland is adapted from Ann Cleeves’ acclaimed crime novels, with filming on the new series already underway in Scotland until the summer. New cast who have joined the drama include Ciaran Hinds (Game of Thrones, Rome, Frozen), Emmy award-winner Archie Panjabi (The Fall, The Good Wife), Anna Chancellor (Mapp & Lucia, Downtown Abbey), James Cosmo (Case Histories, Troy), Saskia Reeves (Wolf Hall, Luther), Sara Vickers (Sunshine On Leith, Endeavour), Jack Greenlees (Stonemouth, Sunset Song), Jamie Michie (Sunset Song, Game Of Thrones), Mark Cox (Still Game), Kate Donnelly (Still Game, Rab C Nesbitt) and Andrew Rothney (Outlander).
The new six-part series centres on the disappearance of a young man on a ferry crossing from Aberdeen to Lerwick. Suspecting foul play, DI Perez and his team begin an investigation which has far-reaching consequences for them all and the local community.
