A major new four-part drama written by The Missing writers Jack and Harry Williams has been commissioned by BBC One, through BBC Scotland for production in Scotland next year.

Produced by BBC Drama In-House Production through BBC Scotland in association with Two Brothers Pictures, the 4x60 drama series is a modern thriller set in the Highlands of Scotland and Edinburgh, highlighting the BBC’s commitment to drama in Scotland.

A horrific double murder rocks the lives of two families living side-by-side in isolated rural Scotland. But instead of focusing on the investigation, One Of Us explores the fallout for the grieving relatives, and the dark consequences that threaten to shatter their lives.

One Of Us is an intense morality tale which will keep the audience guessing until its devastating climax.

Harry and Jack say: “We're excited to be telling a modern-day parable that explores big themes and ideas through the lens of a very personal character-driven story.”

It is Executive Produced by Christopher Aird, Head of BBC Drama Production England, through BBC Scotland and Harry and Jack Williams for Two Brothers Pictures. One Of Us was commissioned by Ben Stephenson, Controller BBC Drama Commissioning.

Christopher Aird, adds: “I am so excited to be bringing this unique thriller by two of the freshest UK screenwriters to Scotland. Sitting alongside Shetland and our adaptation of Iain Banks’ Stonemouth, One of Us shows BBC Drama’s substantial commitment to drama in Scotland.”

One Of Us will be filmed in locations around Edinburgh and the Highlands in spring 2015, for transmission later in the year. Casting will be announced in due course.

The commission is part of BBC Scotland's commitment to produce distinctive and reflective Scottish output and complements distinctive productions including Stonemouth (BBC Two & BBC One Scotland), Shetland (BBC One), Sunset Song, Katie Morag (CBeebies), Bob Servant (BBC Four), Murder (BBC Two) and new landmark series, Highlands (BBC One).
