The red carpet was rolled out today at Leicester Square’s Vue West End, as stars checked in for the playful premiere of CBeebies' The Furchester Hotel.

Comedians John Thomson and Rufus Hound joined a host of other stars from the worlds of television and radio including BBC Radio Two presenter Jeremy Vine; The Apprentice runner-up Saira Khan and actor, writer and director Noel Clarke.

They were all accompanied by their family and friends to celebrate the launch of the new children’s television series from CBeebies and Sesame Workshop.

Also in attendance were TV presenters Seema Pathan and Maggie Aderin-Pocock and veteran children’s presenter Derek Griffiths. The event was hosted by CBeebies presenter Alex Winters.

Asked if he would make a good guest at The Furchester Hotel, BBC Radio 2 presenter, Jeremy Vine stated: “We try to make the bed in the morning." While John Thomson answered: "Yes, I don't throw the telly out the window!"

The family friendly event saw guests rubbing elbows with the likes of Elmo and The Cookie Monster, before everyone was given a chance to be the first to see the new children’s series, which premieres on Friday 26 September, at 5pm on CBeebies.

The Furchester Hotel is a brand-new children’s television series aimed at 3-6 year olds. Set in an ‘almost’ world-class hotel, the programme features a close-knit family of chaotic but loveable monsters as they bend over backwards, forwards and sideways to meet the needs of their guests.

The series features favourite furry friends from Sesame Street, Elmo and The Cookie Monster, and also introduces The Furchester-Fuzz family - hotel owner Funella Furchester, her loving husband, Furgus Fuzz, and their daughter, the unflappable Phoebe Furchester-Fuzz.

One of the stars from The Furchester Hotel, Elmo, said: “Things at The Furchester can get a little hairy from time to time, but we always try our best to work hard as a family! The Cookie Monster is more than happy to help guests with their room service and dining requests, Isabel the bell monster keeps front desk in check, and of course there’s our fantastic owner Funella. We all work hard to make everybody’s stay absolutely perfect, tackling any problems with determination and resolve because a Furchester never gives up!”
