CBeebies commissions new dinosaur adventure for Andy Day
Andy’s affinity with our young audience and the expertise of the Natural History Unit will bring children up close and personal with some of the greatest creatures to have ever walked the earth.”Kay Benbow, Controller, CBeebies
Produced by the BBC’s world-renowned Natural History Unit, Andy’s Dinosaur Adventures (20 eps) is a co-commission from CBeebies in the UK and BBC Worldwide for the international CBeebies channels.
Using footage from the BBC’s incredible archive, Andy’s Dinosaur Adventures will utilise the latest digital CGI and green-screen technology to see Andy go on a jaw-dropping journey into prehistoric times.
In the new series Andy works at a museum. He loves his job and he loves dinosaurs. But his clumsiness often threatens the ‘grand opening’ of their latest exhibits so he must travel back in time to come face to face with real dinosaurs and make sure the exhibitions can open on time!
Andy will find himself taking to the skies with the mighty Ornithocherius; witnessing the birth of a baby Diplodocus; and coming head to head with the mighty T-Rex.
CBeebies Controller, Kay Benbow, says: “I’ve been keen to bring dinosaurs to the channel for some time and, following the success of Andy’s Wild Adventures, I think this is the perfect vehicle. Andy’s affinity with our young audience and the expertise of the Natural History Unit will bring children up close and personal with some of the greatest creatures to have ever walked the earth.”
Henrietta Hurford-Jones, Director of Children’s at BBC Worldwide, said: “We’re thrilled to have this wonderful companion piece to Andy’s Wild Adventures to bring dinosaurs to life for our pre-school audience around the world in such a unique way.”
Andy’s Dinosaur Adventures is made by the BBC Natural History Unit, executive produced by Jonny Keeling for NHU, Michael Towner for CBeebies and Henrietta Hurford-Jones for BBC Worldwide. The series is produced by Mark Jones.
