Our people, our planet, our action.
BBC Media Action is the BBC's international charity.
We believe in the power of media and communication to do good – and we work to a distinct mission.
As the world grows more aware of the devastating impact of climate change, now and in the future, the poorest people feel the impact most and often find it hardest to cope. In the countries where we work, communities are already experiencing worse and more frequent droughts, flooding and unpredictable weather events in their daily lives.
We believe addressing climate change requires action at all levels. By bringing ordinary people, civil society, and government leaders together, our projects encourage discussion and action that supports sustainable development to benefit everyone. Our research helps us understand how climate change is affecting vulnerable populations and helps us understand how to help effectively.
BBC Media Action is an independent charity. We are not funded by the BBC TV licence fee and none of our work would be possible without the support of our donors – governments, foundations, corporations and individuals.
