BBC Media Action strengthens the resilience of individuals, households and communities by delivering a range of media and communication projects to improve food and water security, economic security, and disaster risk reduction. We continue to get requests to build on the research insights from our Climate Asia project. In December, 2014, for example, we were invited by the United Nation’s Nairobi Work Programme to run a workshop for partner organisations across the North and South to support stakeholders to use an audience-centred approach to communications.

Our senior staff are frequently invited to apply the learnings from Climate Asia to other related themes. BBC Media Action has also been leading on thinking around disaster risk reduction and communication. We support initiatives by the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR) and the World Bank Global Facility for Disaster Risk Reduction (GFDRR) by participating in working groups, organising panel discussions, and inputting on other initiatives.
