There are three candidates for Constable
of St Clement.
Gerard Baudains
Gerard Baudains has been a Deputy in the parish for ten years
but now hopes to make the move to Constable.
He told BBC Jersey he considered standing for the role last year
but said the now-retiring Constable Derek Grey is such a gentlemen
he didn't want to oppose him and win!
Deputy Baudains said if he's successful in next month's election
he wants to restore the parish hall as the heart of the community,
re-invigorate the honorary police system and be available for
the people in his parish.

Edgar Wallis
Edgar Wallis is currently a centenier in the parish but wants
to make the leap from the honorary system to represent St Clement
in the States of Jersey.

Len Norman
Senator Len Norman is also hoping to swap one seat in the States
chamber for another.
He started his career in politics twenty-five years ago as a
deputy and is now a Senator.
If he wins the Constable election he'll be only the second person
in history to have been elected into all three positions in the
States of Jersey.
He says it's always been an ambition of his to be the father
of the parish and believes St Clement is under threat from over-development
and thinks he'll be able to stand up against that threat.
