Why am I seeing a message on my LG TV saying my TV isn't supported?

We're aware that some people are now seeing a "Sorry, we do not support your device" message on the BBC iPlayer app on LG TVs where they did not previously.

Firstly, please check our LG BBC iPlayer Certified Devices list to make sure your TV's model number is listed and supported for use with BBC iPlayer.

My TV is listed as certified

If your TV is listed as certified but you're still seeing this message, we've found that carrying out a power cycle on your TV should resolve this issue:

  1. Switch off your TV by using the remote or pressing the power button on the TV.
  2. Unplug your TV from the mains. (If your TV is connected to a surge protector or Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), power off the surge protector or UPS.)
  3. Wait 30 seconds.
  4. Plug your TV back in or turn the surge protector back on.
  5. Switch on the TV using the remote or the power button.

My TV isn't listed as certified

If your TV isn't listed as certified and it's a new model, it’s possible that it’s awaiting certification. The BBC cannot comment on a particular device under certification, but you could speak to the manufacturer.

It's also possible that your TV isn't listed because it might be an older model whose technology can’t be updated any more. If this is the case, you can still get to BBC iPlayer by connecting another device to your TV. Head to our Help choosing a device to connect to your existing TV FAQ for more information.
