I've worked on the BBC history website for nearly two years, and in that time have learned a lot more than I knew before about the two world wars. I hope to learn plenty more through the 'People's War' site, and am looking forward to exploring it.
Some of my friends and relatives lived through World War Two, and I plan to encourage them to write of their experiences here. If necessary I can give them a hand with typing, or with working out the computer's strange ways.
I imagine some of their memories are buried quite deep, but that they will enjoy describing them once they've got started. It may be they will come to realise how tough and resilient they were - that is certainly my view of the generation that lived through those difficult times.
