Put the chickpeas in a saucepan and mash with a potato masher until as smooth as possible.
Add the peanut butter, garlic, lemon juice, salt, oil and water.
Season with pepper and beat well with a wooden spoon.
Leftover hummus can be covered and kept in the fridge for up to 3 days.
