Concert Information

Tchaikovsky's captivating First Symphony Winter Daydreams is one of the most important milestones in the history of the symphony. Despite the deep anguish it caused (Tchaikovsky's mental and physical health suffered so much during its composition that the 26-year old felt he may not survive), it laid the foundation for not only Tchaikovsky's symphonic career, but paved the way for a new style of Russian symphonic writing.

Enjoy the Symphony's seductive melodies and masterful folksong-inspired rhythms with the BBC Symphony Orchestra conducted by Mischa Damev, and hear violinist and BBC New Generation Artist Esther Yoo perform Russian composer Andrei Golovin's Canto d'attesa (Song of Expectancy) for violin and orchestra.

This concert will be broadcast live on BBC Radio 3.

Admission is on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note that as not everyone who asks for tickets uses them, to make sure we have a full house we send out more tickets than there are places. We do our best to get the numbers right, but unfortunately we occasionally have to disappoint people so please arrive early.
