  1. It's everywhere...

Though they may have been a bit on the early side, even the Royal wedding party were getting involved in World Cup fever...

2016 BBC Young Musician award-winner Sheku should've put a bet on really...

Anyway, we're going home (no pun intended) but scroll down for honorary Brit' Justin Timberlake lending his support to the England team at a London gig, Janet Jackson speaking publicly about her late dad and 'great man' Joe Jackson and Justin Bieber confirming his wedding plans.

Plus reports former X Factor contestant Louis Tomlinson is to become a judge on the new series and our Newbie Tuesday act is another Donny lad with a very different vibe.

See you tomorrow, or as today's Live Lounger, Christine and the Queens, might say - A demain.

Whitney, a new film by Oscar and BAFTA award-winning filmmaker Kevin McDonald about the megastar Whitney Houston, has just been released in UK cinemas.

MacDonald's previous credits include Marley, Touching The Void and The Last King of Scotland.

Emmy-nominated producer Lisa Erspamer, alongside Whitney's family estate and her sister-in-law Patricia Houston were involved and spoke to 6 Music's Georgie Rogers about seeing too many inaccurate interpretations of Whitney's life and career on screen.

Patricia said: "To tell her story you have to know her story.

Quote Message: Tell the real story and tell it from the people that dealt with her from the day she was born to the day she died and that was the only way to do it.
Quote Message: We said we'd do it this one time with trusting people and team.

The New Jersey house where The Boss lived for seven years as a kid has been sold for $255,000 (£192,000).

As the Asbury Park Press reports - via Billboard - the house at 39 Institute Street in Freehold, where the Springsteens lived from 1955 to 1962, went up for sale for $269,900 in November.

Now that it's sold, that's surely got a visit in an episode of Carpool Karaoke written all over it.

We're just sorry that it wasn't actually on E Street or at least Thunder Road.

  5. Newbie Tuesday #35: Skinny Pelembe is throwing it all in the mix

    Paul Glynn

    Music News LIVE reporter

    Skinny Pelembe

The road from Johannesburg to Doncaster is not exactly a well-travelled one.

But for South African-born singer Skinny Pelembe that is how his musical odyssey began.

"We moved when I was about two or three due to apartheid," he says in a thick South Yorkshire accent.

"Having a mixed race couple [his mum and dad] wasn’t really popping back then!

"So we moved to England and occasionally back to Mozambique, where my family is from."

He adds: "I asked my dad why Doncaster? He hated the town - and he never gave me an answer."

While the mystery of Donny remains, one thing that is quite apparent is Skinny's skill for selecting the best sonic ingredients from UK/US and African culture in order to cook up something entirely new.

Quote Message: I just try and tick my own check boxes. So if it’s got a bit of dub production but then a bit of hip hip and afrobeat and maybe a little country twang to it... and some kind of 60's golden-age songwriting Nuggets kind of vibe.

"I try not to box myself in."

Having received love from BBC Music Introducing and subsequent airplay from stations as varied as Radio 1, 1Xtra and 6 Music - with tracks like Seven Year Curse (above) and I'll Be on Your Mind (below) - it seems that others can't box him in either and there's a sense of freedom in Skinny's music that perhaps stems from having fled such oppression in his early life.

The artist, who is now based in London, admits to having been on the receiving end of racist abuse in the past but brushes it off with the cool ease of one of his beats.

"I guess you’re gonna experience it at some point if you're any colour but more likely if you're brown.

"It's one of those things that hopefully we can change.

Skinny was selected, alongside the likes of Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever, Whyte Horses, Pip Blom and Virginia Wing to perform at the "amazing" 6 Music Recommends night at the recent Great Escape festival.

The last time he was down in Brighton was for a very different artistic endeavour, a break dancing conference when he was just seven-years-old.

"This is nearly as cool!" he jokes, before explaining the sad end to his B-Boy career.

"I didn’t pack it in, it packed itself in... I've got incredibly creaky knees, it's not working in that scene.

"There's absolutely no chance you’ll see any moves in upcoming videos, unless I get a great choreographer!"

    View more on youtube

He didn't listen back to the 6 Music live show in order to preserve it as "perfect" in his own head. But he does keep his ear to the ground for any other music he can find, revealing an unusual primary source of inspiration.

"Streaming is why we sound the way that we do – that and skateboard videos.

"If you skated when you were young, you're gonna know so many different styles of music.

"I was listening to Van Halen this morning on a video, I’d never listen to Van Halen otherwise."

Having already achieved his goal of appearing on a Brownswood Bubblers compilation - mixtape produced by his label, Skinny - who plays Latitude festival this weekend - says he's now set on "making the music that I want to hear."

And if Tony Hawk or anyone else were to call in the meantime with a song request or commission? Well, he'll skate over that bridge when he comes to it.

"I try not to think about that too much, everything that seems to be happening is magic and dope and it just comes as it comes."

A new record of collaborations "with some of my best mates" is out this summer, followed by a maiden UK Tour in September.

  18. World Cup 2018: Three Lions on course to top UK singles chart

    View more on youtube

Three Lions looks set to go to number one after a massive spike in streams and downloads over the weekend.

The song has taken a 30% lead over its nearest rival, George Ezra's Shotgun, the Official Charts Company said.

Originally recorded for the Euro '96 tournament, Three Lions was written by The Lightning Seeds and comedians Frank Skinner and David Baddiel.

Its famous "football's coming home" chant has been resurrected as England have progressed through the World Cup (you may have heard it uttered once or twice of late).

At his own expense, even George has urged people to get behind the track.

    View more on twitter

The song re-entered the top 40 last Friday, but its popularity surged further after England beat Sweden on Saturday to reach the semi-finals. In the 24 hours after the match, Three Lions topped the iTunes download chart and was streamed 701,000 times on Spotify alone.

In total, it has accumulated 24,000 downloads and 2.6 million audio streams since last Friday.

That combination is enough to put the song in pole position in the midweek chart update, with two other football anthems also on course to reappear in the top 40 - Fat Les's Vindaloo at 28 and New Order's World In Motion at 34.

You can expect to hear Three Lions belted out by England fans at least once more, tomorrow night when England play Croatia in the semi-final.

Even certain modern music playing devices are starting to believe...
