About This Event
BBC Proms Inspire is offering 12-18 year olds the chance to work with acclaimed composer James MacMillan and musicians from the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra in a FREE, interactive workshop at Glasgow City Halls on 2 April.
Part One will be a chance to listen to performances of music by James MacMillan, exploring his musical ideas and inspirations. In Part Two, a selection of young composers will have the chance to hear their own ideas and receive expert advice as they are performed live by musicians from the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra. You can choose to watch and listen as part of the audience or you can take part more actively by submitting a piece to be considered in the workshop. All abilities and levels of experience are welcome – just bring your curiosity!
This event will take place on Sunday 2 April from 14:00-16:00, including a short break. The event is free but places are limited and must be reserved in advance. Parents/guardians are also invited, but we ask you to make sure you indicate the total number of people attending on the booking form. Further details about how to submit a short composition to be considered for the workshop will be given upon booking.
