Former Smiths guitarist strikes out on his own

Despite Johnny Marr’s 30 year career, there will be nothing nostalgic about his performance at Glastonbury.

The guitarist, who started out with The Smiths in the 1980s, has constantly evolved - be it playing for The The, Electronic, Modest Mouse or, most recently, The Cribs.

It’s been a good year so far for Marr. At the age of 49, he released his politically charged debut album, The Messenger in 2013 and was also named a Godlike Genuis at The NME Awards. To support the record, he’ll be hitting a number of UK festivals this summer with Glastonbury right at the top of the pile.
