Spirit of the Seventies

Described by The Guardian as making ‘a sound that puts together Foals/Vampire Weekend-type jerkiness with middle of the road pop-rock of Deacon Blue’, Manchester foursome The 1975 are making their first appearance at T.

They’ve already chalked up serious support slots in 2013 with The Rolling Stones and Muse under their belt. Adam Hann (guitar), George Daniel (drums), Matthew Healy (vocals/guitar) and Ross MacDonald (bass) have been playing together since they were young teenagers under various names. They eventually settled on The 1975 from a book singer Matthew found in Mallorca.

Their track ‘The City’ from the first EP, ‘Facedown’, featured on BBC Introducing and their single ‘Chocolate’ reached number 19 in the UK singles chart. The 1975’s self-titled debut album will be released in autumn this year.
