Rising Oldham Star Daring To Be Different

Kiran Leonard is a 17 year-old multi-instrumentalist from Oldham who has been championed by BBC 6 Music’s Marc Riley, BBC Radio 1’s Huw Stephens and BBC Introducing in Manchester.

When we say multi-instrumentalist, we really mean it too with Kiran a self-taught master of over 27 instruments that feature on his debut, Bowler Hat Soup. He even conjures up sounds from a radiator and a grill.

Influenced by Sufjan Stevens, Joanna Newsom and Frank Zappa, Leonard’s music is extraordinary and innovative merging genres including prog, rock, psych and jazz always with maximum energy and attentiveness to detail. Yep, you won’t want to miss this one live.

Kiran Leonard is one of four BBC Introducing acts at the 6 Music Festival after being championed by his local BBC Introducing show.
